MANAGEMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL URBAN DEVELOPMENT
    Meteorology
What is the Meteorology?
It is the science that takes charge of the study of the changes that it happen in the atmosphere (Temperature, Humidity, Speed of the Wind, Solar Radiation, etc).
Why is it important?
The knowledge of the Meteorological factors, as the wind, they allow us to know the destination of the pollutants and this way to minimize the impacts in the population. To have a Meteorological Equipment is indispensable to identify and to visualize in form panoramic the origin and occurrence of the atmospheric contamination.
Who does execute it?
At the moment the Provincial Municipality of Ilo has an automatic meteorological station donated by the Embassy of the Canada in the year 1998, this station is located in the stations of the Municipal Palace and it has the following instruments:

The meteorological equipment is indispensable to identify and to visualize the origin and occurrence of the atmospheric contamination panoramically. The meteorological parameters are measured through sensors that measure the speed and address of the wind (anemometer), relative humidity and temperature (Termo_Higrometer), and solar radiation (piranometer), which are located installed in a tower 10 meters high. The meteorological data will be generated continually and they are recorded in a datalogger.

The data of relative humidity and the temperature of the environment, they are used as additional information of the environmental monitoring. The direction of the wind, offers information on the origin of the contamination in Ilo, while the speed of the wind offers information on the level of dispersion of the contamination. The speed of the wind is also used in combination with the solar radiation, for the calculation of the atmospheric stability. The atmospheric stability is an important factor to evaluate the atmospheric dispersion level.
